Most meetings are so crammed full of agenda items, reports, and outside interruptions that little if any time is left to reflect on our work, hopes and deepest purposes. Spaces to reflect can sometimes feel wasteful; a luxury that most people just cannot afford. A growing body of evidence tells us otherwise. In situations of conflict, reflection interrupts reactive patterns and makes space for people to listen in a new way. In situations of decision making, reflection allows a group to tap into its deepest purposes, avoid groupthink, limit mistakes and get creative.

The good news is that there are ways to add reflective practices to every meeting, retreat and dialogue you lead that make even a crammed meeting feel spacious and connected. Reflection has been a hallmark of Public Conversations Project's work for 25 years and now, with Essential Partners, is what helps set groups up for success even in the most challenging circumstances.
