The 2019 NEACR Spring Program will be held at Bay Path University, Longmeadow Campus in Longmeadow, MA on Tuesday, April 9. Dr. Paula Green, Founder and Senior Advisor of the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding, will serve as keynote speaker and deliver a presentation on immersive dialogue.
Repairing Our Nation's Divides: Insights From Two Ventures In Immersive Dialogue is the title and theme of this year's Spring Program. Following the 2016 presidential election, Dr. Green turned her focus from international work to addressing political divides in the United States. Engaging communities antagonistic to each other because of their political allegiances, she and other residents of her hometown of Leverett, MA, co-created Hands Across the Hills. Modeled on her international work, this 2017-2018 project featured extended dialogues and cultural exchanges between groups from Massachusetts and Kentucky. In October 2018, Dr. Green received the first ever Alliance for Peacebuilding award dedicated to U.S. peacebuilding, recognizing her work in Leverett, MA with Hands Across the Hills.
This program is being co-sponsored by the Leadership and Negotiation program at Bay Path University, which is directed by Joshua N. Weiss, Ph.D.
